Reaktor Events, Amsterdam’s top promoters of dark and experimental techno, start the year off with March’s Unpolished 2020 festival.
In its eighth year, Unpolished 2020 will bring over 20 global acts over just two days. With a mix of DJ and live sets, Reaktor Events will transform the large Warehouse Elementenstraat venue into a three-stage techno haven. Unpolished starts on Friday March 6, 2019 and runs through Saturday March 7th playing host to Amsterdam’s “roughest weekend”!
To get you ready for the ensuing madness, we are highlighting 4 Unpolished Artists you should not miss for this 2020 edition!
As a perennial techno mainstay, Rotterdam’s Jochem Paap, best known as Speedy J, has continued to define the sound of techno since the early nineties.
His critically acclaimed Public Energy No. 1 album created a slightly more ominous and foreboding atmosphere, one which Paap will bring to the Unpolished stage. While known for relentless techno, his Public Energy project serves up more intricate rhythms leaving the crowd wondering what will come next.
Co-founder and resident of the renowned Herrensauna in Berlin, MCMLXXXV is a staple for the city’s gay underground.
His frenetic and energetic style provides constant energy to the dancefloor with a mix of acid anthems and hints of ’90s trance. MCMLXXXV’s brand of techno is sought the world over and will be on full display at this year’s Unpolished.
With releases off Bjarki’s bbbbbb label and Nina Kraviz’s Trip, Iceland’s own Volruptus is no stranger to Europe’s hard techno scene. The self-proclaimed “alien boogie commander” brings his live set to Unpolished.
Armed with only a laptop and MIDI controller, Volruptus’ tripped out electro and versatility are certain to make you sweat.
Longtime friends Calum MacLeod and Liam Robertson combined their diverse love for music into the resounding project Clouds.
While incorporating their interest in UK hardcore and jungle, their particular style of techno involves distinct rolling percussions with an appetite for piercing melodies. The Scottish duo will come to Amsterdam on the heels of new releases off their own Maxiboy label.
