“OK COOL” is back! The celebrated event series returns to TV Lounge in Detroit for its 6th annual Official Movement Festival After Party on Sunday, May 27. The ethos behind ‘OK COOL’ is to create an environment where fans, artists and industry can celebrate their love for dance music in a timeless space through a combination of top-notch production and talent – without any vibe destroyers like velvet ropes or bottle service.
Los Angeles’ Tara Brooks is one of the artists performing this year’s OK COOL, where she joins the likes of Eats Everything, Ardalan, Delano Smith, Cosmin TRG, Ataxia and more for a lineup that blends techno, house and tech house across multiple rooms in one of Detroit’s best venues.
We had a chat with Tara ahead of the Movement weekend to find out what her top 5 Movement Detroit moments are, and why. Read below and don’t forget to catch Tara at OK COOL on May 27th.
OK COOL at TV Lounge
One of the most special parties of the weekend. Connecting with Dax Lee, Mister Joshooa, Ataxia and the fam was my highlight of the weekend. They do it right. Proper sound, vibes, killer lineup, and the most down to earth and fun environment. Couldn’t be happier to celebrate my birthday, and my first set in Detroit with them this year. See u there! Ok Cool!?
The Seth Troxler and Visionquest event “Need I Say More” at Old Miami
Sad to see this come to an end, but every experience here was just bonkers. Pretty much one big happy family of industry friends and music lovers. It was a leave your ego at the door and just have a good fucking time with all the homies. Doc’s set last year was straight fire. Love when he gets a little dark hehe.. Seth not only worked the door and greets his guests, but they donate proceeds from the event to charity. His adorable parents were there last year and the vibes were always just pure, positive and fun. Cheers to Seth for being such a giver, real as fuck, and kind. Not enough peeps at his level are so down to earth.
Mister Joshooa’s Game Over with Edddie C
The afters of all afters, this magic night I def won’t forget. Eddie C playing bomb after bomb, all vinyl all night. Vibes, venue, sound were all just as they should be; beautiful, warm, and all love.
Giant JENGA for ‘Give a Beat’ at MOVEMENT
This awesome foundation supporting the youth of Detroit was something special. Especially when coming strait from old Miami lol, playing with the lovely Francesca Lombardo, and yes we sure did win! Great cause and thanks for having me!
Last but not least Soul Clap at MOVEMENT
What a beautiful live performance and to make it even more special, our dear Atousa G, (A Line Called K), designed all their costumes and we watched them sparkle and glow up there. what a treat to see them shine so beautifully and her hard work and art come to life!
