This has been a monster year for former Tresor Berlin resident, Vince Watson. The artist released new tracks on Get Physical, Tronic, SushiTech, All Day I Dream, his own Everysoul Audio alongside a slew of remixes. Watson rounds out the year by kicking things up a notch with his label’s biggest and most adventurous release to date: DnA [re]Sequenced.
DnA [re]Sequenced features remixes from artists inspired by Detroit sound and from three places that have impacted Watson’s music: Scotland, Amsterdam, and Detroit. Expect to see remixes from none other than Carl Craig, Claude Young, John Beltran, Jon Dixon, Shawn Rudiman, Stephen Lopkin, Steve Rachmad and Stephen Brown. DnA [re]Sequenced will be released November 12th on Bandcamp and November 19th via other major streaming platforms, as well as on vinyl record.
6AM features Steve Rachmad‘s remix of Watson’s iconic track, “Second Wave.” Rachmad is one of Watson’s closest allies in Amsterdam. They’ve worked together on many projects over the years, and Rachmad’s was the first name on Watson’s list. His 4/4 edition of “Second Wave” takes the deep Detroit chords and harmonies into a much darker and groovier direction, with early Transmat character and the funk that Rachmad is known for.
With almost 25 years in the Electronic music industry, Vince Watson has released over 200 EPs, including 12 albums and 75 remixes. His hard work has been rewarded with recordings for some of the very best electronic music labels like Cocoon, Planet E, Yoruba, Poker Flat, BBE and Transmat as well as running his own Everysoul label. Everysoul Audio was born out of Watson’s Bio Music label as a new home for a new era. Everysoul was formed as the outlet for most of his personal releases and projects, and a way to build a nice home for high quality music.
Watson’s skillsets have allowed him to work with some of the very best electronic artists including Laurent Garnier, Joe Claussell, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Carl Craig, Osunlade, Steve Bug and Josh Wink. As a touring musician, he has also been able to play at some of the world’s best clubs and events including Enter at Space, Ibiza, Berghain Berlin, Womb Tokyo and many events in The Netherlands. Watson also hosts the monthly radio show Radio Drama which features top guest from the electronic music world each month. Some examples include Ben Sims, Truncate, Luke Slater, Manoo, Fred P, Steve Bug, Osunlade and many more.
Watson’s sets can also be heard in many headline podcasts series. He’s been featured in podcasts from Carl Cox, John Digweed, Dave Clarke, Luciano, DJ Mag, Electronic Beats and Resident Advisor. In late 2020, Watson released an LP for The Outlaw Oceans music project entitled Hope. This was commissioned by the New York Times investigative journalist, Ian Urbina, and is now in production for Netflix as a documentary series.
In addition to his touring schedule, studio and other commitments, Watson’s experience and knowledge is also being put to use by Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Watson works as a Senior Degree Lecturer for AEMA, the CvA’s new electronic music school, where he teaches DJ classes, Production classes and Remix classes.
Next year Watson will set the bar even higher. 2022 will see more DnA [re]Sequences from another set of established artists, as well as new Detroit material from Watson himself.
