While you don’t have to be a sound “geek” to enjoy ADE’s Sound Lab, there is no doubt that the very backbone of the program is bound to get any gear and music production aficionado salivating, with with demos, workshops, masterclasses, presentations of new and conceptual instruments, audio-visual experiences, modular synth setups and live performances all scheduled to take place.
The ADE Card, which costs just € 10, gives holders access to a myriad of activities. They will be able to experience the very newest equipment from leading music brands at the Gear Test Lab and attend ADE MusicTalks: daily in-depth interviews with music legends such as DVS1, Gary Numan, Surgeon & Lady Starlight, Tiga & Soulwax and many more. Topics that will be discussed vary from ‘How I Play Live’ to ‘The Evolution of my Sound.’
ADE Next
Part of ADE’s Sound Lab, ADE Next allows up-and-coming DJs, musicians, producers and artists to get their hands on new gear, attend studio sessions and obtain first-hand insight and education from experienced top-of-the-bill artists, and exchange ideas with one another and with the established musicians holding the various panels and interviews organized by ADE.
New & Emerging Instruments
Innovation is another key aspect of the ADE Sound Lab, with the program pushing musicians to innovate through the discovery and ultimate adoption of new and emerging instruments, be it in the form of software, hardware or both. The beauty of this specific segment of the Sound Lab is its uniqueness: ADE called for artists, designers and developers to send in project proposals under the theme ‘New & Emerging instruments’. Eight mind-bending projects are selected to premiere at this unique event and are funded by ADE and the Creative Industries Fund NL. The open call is intended to give creative, experimental entrepreneurs in the context of electronic music a platform to showcase their work.
