While some Miami clubs are closing down, Do Not Sit on the Furniture continues to go as strong as ever helping lead the way in intimate forward thinking bookings. August saw a wide cast of characters embrace the console at Do Not Sit on the Furniture, with the September bookings picking up right where they left off. Here are some of the highlight events to end the summer at Do Not Sit.
After a recent marathon set at the popular Miami venue, Archila is back to kick things off for Labor Day Weekend. Being a Miami local, there’s a clear home court advantage every time he steps into the booth, and the personal space of Do Not Sit is the perfect platform for the twisting grooves of Archila.
Jody Wisternoff is among many artists that strive for excellence in their music and influence on the culture. Over the years he’s released numerous EPs on a variety of labels and has become one of the forefront artists on Anjunadeep. Continuing on with the Labor Day festivities, Do Not Sit will see Jody Wisternoff take over the decks and lock in for an extended set in South Beach.
With Labor Day events complete, Do Not Sit follows up the week after with a special showcase along with House Music Miami. Disco Love Affair will feature the very talented artist, Fred Everything, with a supporting cast to assist in the celebratory beats. With releases on Tsuba, Get Physical, and 20/20 Vision, Fred Everything has a firm understanding of electronic music with his production talent translating fluidly into his DJ sets.
Always at the forefront of creative thinking and presentation, Eduardo Castillo has successfully left his mark on many local scenes. From his Voodoo and Habitas series in Los Angeles, as well as running Pattern Bar, Eduardo Castillo possesses a keen eye for detail when it comes to all aspects of nightlife.
Joining him from across the pond will be Nu, from Germany. With an eclectic style and wide range of sounds at his disposal, Nu’s expertise in the booth will lead to a great sonic showcase at Do Not Sit.
Holding down residencies with Flying Circus, Sankeys, and DC-10, it’s safe to say that Mia Lucci has found the ideal blend of deep and tech house over the years. Being on the international circuit for several years now, she has built up an impressive resume and can cater to any dance floor at any time. It also goes without saying that Do Not Sit on the Furniture is one of the ideal venues to experience her in action.
Friday September 18th: Do Not Sit on the Furniture with Matthew Dekay and Patrice Baumel
When you combine the forces of Matthew Dekay and Patrice Baumel, the result can be quite extraordinary. Dekay, one of the visionaries of the All Day I Dream brand, has a a wide repertoire of slick grooves and cerebral cuts that continually elevates dance floors through the music. The same can be said about Kompakt artist, Patrice Baumel. Several days prior to this appearance at Do Not Sit on the Furniture, Baumel will be playing an intimate show in Los Angeles that parallels the ethos of Do Not Sit. Among the September programming, this night stands atop as one of the highlights.
Low slung and sleezy beats are somewhat of a specialty for AlexKid. We mean that in the best way possible. With releases on the widely popular Fuse London, run by Enzo Siragusa, AlexKid has taken advantage of the platform to releases cutting minimal and tech house tunes that are instant dance floor classics; look no further than his Kilimanjaro release with Enzo. The Fuse crew is quite familiar with intimate venues with low ceilings, such as Sankeys, and Do Not Sit on the Furniture is another perfect venue for the Fuse Style.
For all things deep and techno, Aril Brikha has the answer. With a strong influence from the sounds of Detroit, Brikha has developed a distinct style leading to releases on Poker Flat, Kompakt, and his own label, Art of Vengeance. With additional support from Archila, this is shaping up to be a great way to end September at Do Not Sit.

For good reason too – Between a string of EP and album releases, Dance Spirit has shared their musical vision with a wide audience of electronic enthusiasts.
