The image that graces Gegen Records third compilation is evocative of the goddess, Durga. According to Hindu legend, Durga is greater than any of the male divinities. She is also often depicted with 8 to 10 arms. Like Durga, who is the epitome of both beauty and power, Berlin’s GEGEN reflects the beauty and power of its diverse community. Now celebrating 10 years of existence, Gegen Records is releasing a powerful 3-part compilation showcasing the artists who lie at the heart of the infamous party series.
Gegen’s VA totals 30 tracks. These tracks are hailed from the true ride-or-die residents at the core of the project, headliners whose support have propelled the collective from day one, as well as up-and-coming artists. Different sub-genres and BPM will take you from classic techno to industrial, hardcore to breakbeat, and deconstructed to acid.
All the tracks proudly represent Gegen Records. You can choose to embark upon an ethereal journey or get dirty in punk distortion. You can lose yourself in spacious hypnotic trips or opt for deconstructed and drums focused tracks. You can also release energy on tense walkyrie anthems or indulge in some raw hard hitters like Dominik Müller’s “I saw her at K.-Str, 76” featured on Gegen’s third compilation.
Gegen will release a compilation every two weeks that will leave you wanting more. The entire compilation is built on a sonic narrative arc: the releases grow harder, faster and harsher. Stay tuned and listen closely because the music will empower your mind, body, and soul with the beauty of a GEGEN night.
