French techno ringleader Antigone returns to the fray with We Are The Soldiers, a dark and brooding two track EP set for release on his very own imprint No Pain No Gain. Over five years’ experience holding down the fort with a residency at Concrete Club in Paris has undoubtedly graced Antigone with the ability to create truly direct and energy focused techno. The raw industrial fever that imbues his tracks has been shaped over countless years of dancefloor exposure, this international luminary has been met with warm reception from industry figureheads and up and comers alike. He has previously commissioned remixes for the legendary Slam, and Detroit icon Carl Craig. Antigone has also released original tracks with the likes of Nina Kraviz and Amelie Lens on their respective imprints.
The EP’s title track “We Are Soldiers” thunders into action with maniacal intent, the blistering rumble of sawtooth synths and nosebleed kick drums bursts through the mix with unrelenting energy. The warlike vocal chant stomps through the arrangement, constantly supplying the track with an impending feeling of urgency and pressurization. The sheer power behind Antigone’s drum work is truly a spectacle to behold, the machine-like clatter of hi-hats drives endlessly atop the thumping low-end impacts.
