Poland’s Up To Date Festival has created a Monopoly-style board game based on business techno.
Business Techno: The Game involves players trading techno properties, accumulating techno coin—the game’s in-house currency—and building their own techno empire. It features dance music hubs such as Detroit, London, Amsterdam, Ibiza, Berlin, Dubai and Białystok, the location of Up To Date Festival. All of the hubs have their own clubs, festivals, institutions and media.
Full of real-life references, the tongue-in-cheek game aims to be a starting point for discussion on the current state of the club scene, as well as a merch item for a festival that has had its revenue affected by the pandemic.
Up To Date is hosting a conference event in Białystok this Saturday, November 26th, which will include a live Business Techno: The Game tournament. The last edition of the festival took place in September.
