Analogue equipment spring to life at the hands of the Scottish mastermind. Hailing from the capital of Edinburgh, Neil Landstrumm crafts dark and stimulating techno productions that incorporate mixing as well as live performance. His creative direction and sounds are cerebrally purifying, and the man himself lives his days out as a mystifying work of art.
Neil Landstrumm’s four-track EP is aptly titled Extreme Pleasure, which is certainly deserving as the latest release on Gesaffelstein’s label Zone Records. Extreme Pleasure is a darkly sensual listening experience akin to engaging in certain unspeakable activities. The first track A Girl Is A Gun possesses a stoic, spine-tingling interaction between deep synth lines and feminine enunciations. Techno and retro electro sounds pulsate throughout the more energizing Silent Forces track. Night Comforts situates the EP in line with Zone’s electronic body sound aesthetic, while Live Slow Die Anyways is driving and audacious.
