Lōn Drops New Music with “A Dead Body Falling”

Having released a remix by Los Angeles native Truncate in 2021, Arketip Discs has been on our radar and brewing nicely with simmering talent. Not only have they had Truncate’s Midas touch join the party, but they also list artists like Spain’s ORBE who has been on Jeff Mills’ Axis and Shlomi Aber’s Be As One for example. They even list producers from far out places such as Australia’s Albert Chiovenda, who has appeared on Ricardo Garduno’s Illegal Alien and Kessell’s Granulart labels.

The fifth EP for the Spanish outfit Arketip Discs is a colossal parcel of modern, underground techno from some of the finest and accomplished artists in the world right now.

Leading the charge is original artist Lōn who are a duo fresh from releasing on Lewis Fautzi’s Faut Section for example. Forging a fascinating piece of quirky and hypnotic techno with the title track “A Dead Body Falling”, its atmospheric, plucking melody bounces around with a light-hearted spirit. In considerable contrast, the follow up “Shape of My Drum” is a heads down, dynamic and brooding cut that’s drenched in abstract, warehouse vibes that morphs and twists a drum sound as its key characteristic.

The first remixer is one of Spain’s hottest crops, Reeko has applied his sound to labels such as Slam’s Soma, Oscar Mulero’s PoleGroup and his own Mental Disorder imprint. His rework of A Dead Body Falling adds punch and bursting crescendo power in abundance, making it almost unrecognisable from the original.

Temudo arrives with the second remix here and the Portuguese co-founder of HAYES has forever slick production skills that have landed on Bas Mooy’s Mord such as “Ajudou” to Ben Klock’s Klockworks like “Ashamed”. He opts for a reinterpretation with masterful percussion shudders and strange static crushes that are exhilarating and sprightly with analogue spirit coursing through its veins.
