Korolova has had a meteoric rise. In just one year, she played 60 shows in 20 countries, picked up 4.6 million Spotify streams, 30 million views on YouTube, and released tracks on influential labels such as AFTR:HRS, Get Physical Music, and Armada. More recently she has been a spokesperson to help support the war effort in her country and was featured in BBC’s article outlining how Ukraine’s musicians have become both war reporters and military fundraisers.
Hi Korolova, how are you? We’re excited to get to know you a little better and what’s been going on with your journey. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What first got you into music?
Pre-order ‘Feel What You Want’ EP
My passion for music started from my first piano lesson, aged 6. Since then, I’ve been obsessed with music. When I was a ballet dancer working with Sensation White, Global Gathering, and Armin I was utterly consumed with Trance music which opened me up to the Electronic world. On one of our tours on the ballet circuit, a friend once came up to me and said, “You are the biggest Electronic music lover ever”. Why are you not DJing?”

Trance music was one of the driving forces in Korolova becoming a DJ.
A light bulb went off in my head. So I said, “ let me try” that was in 2011, and now I am speaking to you after my debut set at Ushuaia, Ibiza.

Speaking of music, in just one year, you have played in 60 shows in 20 countries and have had 4.6 million Spotify streams, and have 30 million views on YouTube. How do you stay balanced with all the traction you’ve been getting?
As a Mama of a beautiful daughter, growing to 50 million on YouTube and 9 million streams on Spotify has been a challenge, especially with touring. But this is my passion, I love what I do.
What inspires you to keep making music? What do you hope your listeners will gain from listening to your music?
My daughter is my biggest motivation. She has started playing the piano so I want to be on that journey with her. I hope my listeners gain positivity. That’s what I want to emit — positivity with good vibrations.

When it comes to inspiration, you have been an inspiration yourself as you’ve recently become a spokesperson about the war that’s taking place in your home Chernihiv, Ukraine. First, we appreciate the bravery and strength you’ve shown as a mother and as an artist. When you see the fellowship of DJs coming together like a family for this movement, how does this make you feel?
Firstly, I want to say a big thank you to the world who has supported our country and people in the war with Russia. It’s a hard time for our nation and I want to do my best to help my country, its people, and animals. Thank God I can continue working, help on social media and help with money. I am sure our nation will be much stronger after this war, I hope this will end soon and we can all return to everyday life.

There’s no doubt that Ukraine has a resilient and vibrant electronic music community. Can you share more in-depth about what makes Ukraine special in its scene? Do you have any favorite memories from performing at the venues in Ukraine?
It’s Funny, in Ukraine we believe our cultural heritage intertwines music from the most beautiful Ukrainian lullabies. That’s why we think we love music from birth.
Playing in Ukraine is always unique. There is such a proud fan base and they are so supportive of local artists. Every set, people would sing all the words and be present for every minute. They stay for up to 2-3 hours after the show and want to talk and get photos, I love Ukraine for that and I miss Ukraine for that.
