Do Not Sit on the Furniture was recently named the best dance club in Miami by the Miami New Times. As we know, Miami is an international hub for dance music with ample destinations, but this accolade is well warranted. Since it’s inception, Do Not Sit on the Furniture has become the premier spot for intimate underground dance music gatherings. After coming off an excellent month with their June programming, Do Not Sit on the Furniture is back in July continuing their hot streak. Here’s what they have in store for July.
The Fourth of July weekend starts Thursday with Nora en Pure. As of late she has been developing a sound that balances on the border of nu disco and deep house, and will provide a welcoming warm up for the events to come this month at Do Not Sit on the Furniture. For a taste of what to expect from Nora en Pure have a listen to her Afterhours mix that she compiled for the one and only, Pete Tong.
On Friday night LA-based trio, Droog, will take over the console as we move closer to the Fourth of July in Miami. Droog is at the forefront of the scene in Los Angeles with releases on esteemed labels, as well as operating their own influential label, Culprit LA. Each member of Droog is deeply committed to the underground scene, and their efforts stretch far and wide beyond home-base in Los Angeles. The intimate space at Do Not Sit on the Furniture seems like a perfect opportunity for them to showcase their musical range.
The Fourth of July celebration at Do Not Sit on the Furniture will feature the deep ethereal sounds of Lake People. With a clear vision and understanding of sound, Lake People will curate an excellent soundtrack to the evening for attendees at Do Not Sit.
It’s always a special night when residents provide the music for an evening. This is especially the case when one of the residents is also the founder of the club. Behrouz has implemented his vision into the venue that is Do Not Sit on the Furniture, and with time and passion the club has become a staple in modern Miami clubbing. July 10th Behrouz will take over the decks along with Maxi Storrs for a night of beats and celebration.
With frequent stops throughout the United States it’s only natural for Eelke Kleijn to make a stop at Do Not Sit on the Furniture. With an open and enthusiastic crowd, Do Not Sit is the perfect outlet for him to deliver the cerebral sounds he’s so well known for. Eelke skills as a producer range far and wide. You’re just as likely to see him land a deep house remix on Spinnin Records as you are cerebral techy cuts on Suara. One thing is certain though…when it comes down to a dance floor like Do Not Sit, Eelke Kleijn will bring nothing but choice tracks for the evening.
Halfway through the month and the programming is still going strong at Do Not Sit on the Furniture. For the Friday night soriwée on July 17th, Superlounge will bring forth signature sounds for the clubbers to revel in until the late hours of the night.
Fresh off an appearance at All Day I Dream last month in Los Angeles, Oona Dahl will be welcomed with open arms for her set at Do Not Sit on the Furniture. Eloquently combining the melodic and blissful elements with up beat grooves give Oona Dahl a style that resonates so deeply with dance floors everywhere. While the ADID visionary himself, Lee Burridge, won’t be present…we can still expect a vibrant atmosphere and music for Oona Dahl.
