Today, following an intense and heavy election week, many of us are feeling a diverse and wide range of emotions.
Whether you voted red, blue or green, whether the outcome was what you wanted or not, please remember to look beyond this one moment in our lives. In the many millennia that preceded this one, man has progressed and history has proven that despite setbacks and a bumpy road, the ride has always been toward a better society, toward justice and a fairer world.
There is still so much to be done. There is undeniable progress ahead of us as a community, as a nation, as a species, but we are on the right path. 2020 is just a small period of time in the history of this planet that we are a part of, and while I know we are living it first hand and so it doesn’t feel this way, don’t forget to contextualize the events around you and to look at the bigger picture: the world is a better and safer place than it was centuries, even decades ago.
And yes… it’s not enough and there is a lot of work still to be done.
It’s time we focus on our community, on each other, selflessly and for the good of the group, rather than just the individual. This is how we progress and better our lives, collectively.
It’s time to do what’s right.
It’s time we stand together.
