Icon Collective Launches Black Voices Scholarship Program

Icon Collective is awarding three $19,500 Black Voices Scholarship awards to their college of music for aspiring Black music producers, vocalists and music entrepreneurs in an effort to lift and empower Black voices.

Through this fund, Icon will be offering a $19,500 annual scholarship to three students from the Black community. One for each of our three main programs at our Los Angeles campus: Music Production, Vocal Artist, and Music Business.

The goal of this scholarship program? To “Lift Black Voices” as Icon Collective explains on their Scholarships page:

At ICON Collective, our responsibility is to nurture and aid the next generation of music creatives and professionals with an inclusive educational environment. After years of turning out successful graduates from our programs, It became abundantly clear that Black artists have been severely underrepresented within ICON, and we understand we need to make a conscious effort to change. We wholeheartedly believe the strength of our Collective is directly connected to the diversity of its members. We fully recognize that the seeds of all modern music were conceived from the minds of American Black Culture. We need to do our part to celebrate and honor this lineage while also ensuring that the student body is better balanced and represented.

With this in mind, we are proud to announce our Annual ICON Black Voices Scholarship. ICON’s curriculum has empowered many creatives to follow their bliss as defined by their own personal vision. With this scholarship fund, we are grateful to play a small part in helping Black creatives manifest their vision through the power of music and forge their own path to give the world something it desperately needs: their voices.

ICON is awarding scholarships to our Vocal Artist, Music Production, and Music Business Programs at our Los Angeles campus. One chosen recipient per program will receive a $19,500 scholarship and embark on a year long intensive study to develop their skills and hone their craft at our campus in Burbank California. Learn more about their programs here.

It is our sincere hope that by extending avenues for Black creatives to join our Collective, we can contribute to a positive shift in the antiquated status quo.”

This scholarship to Icon Collective’s 12-month program in Los Angeles, covers $19,500 of Icon’s $25,995 tuition. The awarded sum is one-quarter short of a full scholarship and Icon explains that this was intentional, “We believe shouldering some of the tuition cost is part of the personal responsibility needed to succeed in the program and as a thriving, entrepreneurial artist thereafter.”
