Tokyo’s WOMB nightclub heads into the new year strong with the inauguration of their Session WOMB, inspired by the unique music culture that emanates from behind the doors of the Japanese nightlife staple.
Session WOMB is a Tokyo based collective started by WOMB residents Tommy Wada, Ohnishi, and Yoshi with a focus on producing high quality house and techno straight from Japan. When WOMB first opened their doors in 2001, Session was one of the early event series hosted in the iconic venue. Since then, both WOMB and Session have become a globally recognized destination for artists and club-goers in search of an authentic sound that is widely known throughout the Tokyo club circuit.
Session WOMB starts off with the release of Nathan Barato and Francisco Allendes’ Got To Get EP, a bass-happy tech house trio of tracks. The Got To Get track features a thrusting four-on-the-floor drum variant, reverberating bass kicks, and some old school wavey ravey synth sounds thrown into the mix. DJ Dep’s remix of Got To Get has a fresh and tribal big room take on the bassy original. The third track Teg Ot Tog evokes the growing nostalgia for acid house, with the rolling drums punctuated by bubbly synth notes.
Make way for grooves straight from Tokyo. The EP is available starting January 18 on Beatport. Have a listen at Nathan’s and Francisco’s work below.
