The calm before the storm. Tonight has been much anticipated for the past few weeks, and we are just hours away from WORK with Livio & Roby and Clovis with support from our own Jamie Charles and Jared Sanders. Last week we gave away two free Livio & Roby tracks, and today we offer up several free downloads from Los Angeles native, Clovis. Merwin is a beautifully constructed track bridging the gap between an ambient soundscape and minimal. The drums have a very human feel, which is refreshing compared to many drum arrangements these days, and the pads and synths strike an emotional chord with each and every progression. A thought provoking sample rounds off this minimal masterpiece, and is a perfect track to enjoy before the heavier grooves commence on the dance floor tonight.
Who doesn’t want a little jazz in their life? Monk Enthusiast is Clovis’ bootleg rendition of the 1936 classic Caravan with Thelonious Monk on piano. Taking original elements such as the piano and bass, he puts a more modern dance twist on it rearranging the drums to something more dance floor certified. While the original track Caravan was recorded in the mid 1900’s, it is reminiscent of tracks we enjoy today from artists like Guti. Enjoy this one and let’s take that bassline for a walk.
