Curating the sixth EP in their limited vinyl only series, Concrete Records are a collective from Italy and are introducing a new package bursting with European talent. The label’s back catalogue has already featured music by renowned artists like Voices From the Lake (Donato Dozzy & Neel), Minilogue (of Sven Väth’s Cocoon), Svreca (owner of Semantica) and Echologist also known as Brendon Moeller (of Ostgut Ton) to name only a few.
Lighting up the first entry with “Ghost Lake” on the four-track release is Luigi Tozzi, an Italian dub techno artist who consistently and quietly does his thing while drawing a growing audience to his work with every new outing. His music has been released on Sweden’s Hypnus, Psyk’s Non Series in Spain and Abstract Division’s Dynamic Reflection in the Netherlands for example.
Dino Sabatini is also one half of the Modern Heads duo with compatriot Gianluca Meloni and he contributes the second track “Baubaus” who lists catalogue credits for Edit Select Records in Scotland, Lucy‘s Stroboscopic Artefacts and Adam X‘s Sonic Groove in Berlin.
France’s Sub Accent supplies “System Privacy” and is known for appearing on Christian Wünsch’s Tsunami Recordings as well as Subsist and Noorden, while he is soon to have an EP on KVLTÖ this October too.
The final work here is “Concrete 1” a collaboration between two Rome-based artists. Giorgio Gigli has released albums on Deepbass’ Informa and Planet Rhythm plus EPs for Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe. Lunatik returns to Concrete after a number of years in addition to being on Steve Bicknell’s KR3 and Ricardo Garduno’s Illegal Alien.
All the tracks showcase a spacey techno sound with a focus on dub-inspired grooves, modular accents and warm atmospherics that are very much in equal right club ready and home listening experiences.
