Christopher Kah: My 5 Favorite Places In The World

A native of Elsass in France, Christopher Kah is a self-taught, multi-talented multi-instrumentalist. A truly unique talent, he is also a man for whom the approach is every bit as fundamental as the result.

As notable for his dedication to techno as he is his penchant for classical music, Kah first began composing music in his early teens and possesses over a decade of classical and jazz music experience as an organ player. An obsessive student of sound, Kah’s roots in electronic music can be traced back to an early appreciation of industrial techno — a strand of music that still greatly influences his productions to this very day.

A musician in the truest sense of the word, Christopher Kah is someone who brilliantly encapsulates all that’s great about electronic music. His might be an unconventional way of working, but it’s also one that yields results at an impressively consistent rate.

We had a chat with him about some of his favorite places. Check them out below!

A unique place, quite well known but not crowded, where I love spending time.

Located in the West of France, a region where I go every year. It’s quiet, beautiful, perfect to re-energize! Here is a photo of Le Comptoire de l’Océan, where you sit directly on the beach.

Inside a German Car

I truly like spending time in my car (currently a BMW 7 series). Comfort, luxury, performance –the very specific design, sharp, sometimes cold, hiding a big V8 or V12, I love it!

I always listen to my tracks while driving before finalizing them.

Street (Photography)

Walking through the streets, I find it interesting to follow human interactions, watch people’s behavior and body language, gestures and capture a mood, a movement, a specific energy. I don’t own a camera, I simply use my phone. Minimum resource here too!

The Artisan’s Craft Market stretching along the waterfront in La Rochelle / A café next to the Covered Market in Fouras / The Clos Lucé, Leonardo Da Vinci’s residence in Amboise.

I chose this for its medieval vibe and artistic diversity. A town lying outside of time, situated on the edge of the Loire River. I discovered this place last summer and fell in love with it. Some parts of the town immediately take you a few centuries back, or in the middle of Cersei’s walk of shame in Game of Thrones!

]Stunning by its architecture, stories and history to tell at each glance, Blois is guaranteed to surprise you.

The best place of course! It is my lab, the place where all is crafted.

My thoughts, feelings, emotions, imagination, everything is shaped into music there.

Christopher Kah’s RE:SOURCE 01 is out October 12th on Highwav Records
