Best Events of BPM 2016

Going to The BPM Festival essentially means suffering from constant FOMO and having to deal with schedule conflicts that are sure to test your patience and decision-making. With that said, we compiled a list of our best BPM parties for 2016 in the hope to steer you towards some solid choices. At the end of the day you must remember that it doesn’t matter what you choose, the music is undoubtedly top notch.

All Day I Dream
Info: Sat Jan 9th 2016 Day Party at Martina Beach Club
Line-up: Lee Burridge, Oona Dahl, Gorje Hewek b2b Izhevski, Seth b2b Be Svendsen (Live)

ADID parties are stuff of legends and there is arguably no better setting than the beaches of Playa del Carmen to enjoy the vast and euphoric soundscapes of Lee Burridge and Co.

Dusky Presents
Info: Sat Jan 9th Day Party at Canibal Royal Beach Club
Line-up: Dusky, George Fitzgerald, Midland and The Black Madonna

The British duo are no surprise but the added bonus here is the supporting cast, coming in the forms of The Black Madonna’s only BPM set after a stratospheric year and solid appearance by the likes of George Fitzgerald and Midland.

Info: Sat Jan 9th Night Party at The Jungle
Line:up: Luciano, Apollonia, Tale of Us, The Martinez Brothers, Guy Gerber, Lauren Lane, Paul Kalkbrenner, Dino G & Garrett B, Caleb Calloway, Bas Ibellini, Who

This party was added to the BPM line-up just this morning, ending speculation as to where exactly was Luciano planning to fit in after not appearing elsewhere. Now that the cat is out of the bag, we see he is joined by quite an illustrious group. Eclectic and spanning several differing soundscapes in house music styles, this line-up brings together some of BPM’s giant performers by adding French trio Apollonia, L&D’s Tale of Us and Rumors boss Guy Gerber just to name a few.

Bedrock Presents
Info:  Sun Jan 10th Day Party at Blue Parrot
Line-up: John Digweed (extended set), Eagles & Butterflies, Leo Leal

While it shouldn’t take any convincing to ever see an act of Digweed’s caliber (and there aren’t many), may we point out that he is playing an extended set? A true master of his craft, this translates to a journey you really don’t want to miss. You won’t want to miss Eagles and Butterflies either – the LA-based producer has had a massive year and with releases on Bedrock, Innervisions and Get Physical remains one of the most sought after acts of the moment.

Music On (Night)
Info: Sun Jan 10th Night Party at Blue Parrot
Line-up: Marco Carola, Paco Osuna & Leon

Marco Carola has been at the top of his game for decades now, having just celebrated 25 years behind the decks this past September with one of the strongest Ibiza residencies of the island. There are no mysteries as to how he has been able to pack Amnesia every Friday night for an entire summer: the Italian techno master puts true emphasis on music above all else, and when the music is that good the crowds responds. Carola hosting a Day and Night Music On showcase this year, and considering he only played in Miami and New York when visiting the States this year we suggest you catch at least one.

Diynamic Showcase
Info: Jan 12th Night Party at The Jungle
Line-up: Solomun, H.O.S.H., Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Thyladomid

The entire Diynamic label has been at the forefront of German house music for years now, blending elements of tech and deep house to produce a distinguished sound that has propelled Solomun as one of the heavyweights of the dance music scene. If resilient bass lines, jazzy vocals and gritty deep melodies are your thing then this party is for you.

Hotflush Recordings vs Suara
Info: Jan 12th Night Party at La Santanera
Line-up Room 1: Hotflush with Scuba, Alan Fitzpatrick, George Fitzgerald & Locked Groove.
Line-up Room 2: Suara with Coyu, Dosem, Edu Imbernon, Olivier Giacomotto & Ramiro Lopez.

This is essentially two parties for the price of one, with La Santanera divided into two distinctive rooms highlighting the best of two of today’s top labels: Hotflush and Suara. Headlined by Scuba and Coyu, the labels’ respective bosses, each party features top-tier acts from the worlds of techno and house.

Info: Jan 13th Night Party at The Jungle
Line-up: Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati, Steve Lawler, Lee Foss, Skream, Bob Moses, Dyed Soundorom, Cassy, Matador, Richy Ahmed, Patrick Topping, wAFF, Russ Yallop, Mark Jenkyns, Jey Kurmis

Need we say more? This is arguably BPM’s most comprehensive line-up amassed within one party. And if you think this will mean short set times or cut-down productions then think again. Jamie Jones has built up his Paradise parties into a strong mainstay at DC-10 Ibiza that has expanded from one to two rooms over a couple of years while showcasing top names throughout the entire season. Expect no less at BPM.

Danny Tenaglia and Friends
Info: January 14th Night Party at Blue Parrot
Line-up: Danny Tenaglia, Chris Liebing, Simon Baker

If it seems that our choices have been a little house-focused so far then think again. Danny Tenaglia always bring the techno heat to his BPM parties showcasing an entire career of expertise and top-notch track selection into a set that is sure to make you dance for hours on end. And if that wasn’t enough he is supported by CLR head-honcho and techno master Chris Liebing and UK’s Simon Baker.

Sian Bulgaria

Octopus Recordings vs My Favorite Robot

Info: Jan 15th Night Party at La Santanera
Line-up Room 1: Octopus: Sian, Pleasurekraft, Julian Jewil (live), Oliver Huntemann, Justin James, Barbuto, Boryana, Weska.
Line-up Room 2: My Favorite Robot: My Favorite Robot, Clarian, H.O.S.H. Tori Hulkkonen, Scarlett Etienne

Not enough techno? One of our favorite labels in Octopus Recordings will be sharing  another two-for-the-price-of-one parties alongside My Favorite Robot’s showcase. With such names as Julian Jeweil, Oliver Huntemann and Clarian, this one is a strong contender for anyone who wants to enjoy some of the best in house and techno without having to switch parties.

Life and Death

Info: Jan 15th Night Party at The Jungle
Line-up: Tale of Us, Nina Kraviz, Mind Against, DJ Tennis, Thugfucker, Barnt, Job Jobse, Konstantin

That Tale of Us are one of the most sought-after acts in today’s underground scene is surely not a surprise to anyone. But the secret to the duo’s success relies on an entire label that has now been churning out timeless, darkly dramatic releases non-stop. Joining the Italian duo at BPM are label bosses DJ Tennis and Thugfucker as well as other top label acts in Mind Against, Job Jobse, Barnt and Konstantin. Oh and as an added bonus Nina Kraviz will be completing what is arguably one of the best quality line-ups of the entire festival.
