The Best Underground Sets That Rocked Ultra 2015

UMF 2015

During Miami Music Week, the city becomes a dance music metropolis with different sounds and atmospheres everywhere you look. In between the frenzy of grooves in club land, many artists find themselves gracing the stage at the main event, Ultra Music Festival. This year saw an array of talented artists take their underground sound to the festival atmosphere, and as expected they held nothing back.

We’ve selected our favorite sets from Ultra 2015. You can stream the sets from the Soundcloud players below, and  to take a look at all sets from Ultra 2015 head on over to the UMF 2015 Live Sets Soundcloud

Guti

Guti (Live) – Live @ Ultra Music Festival 2015 (Miami) – 28.03.2015 by Livesets. At on Mixcloud

As expected, Guti served up an excellent selection of dubbed out house and techy grooves for Ultra. Low slung basslines and precise grooves were the name of the game as he took the audience on a one hour journey into the purest depths of house and minimal. But of course leave it to Guti to switch up the vibe with a brief piano interlude that showcases his range as a musician.

Marco Bailey

Marco Bailey – Live @ Ultra Music Festival, UMF 2015 (WMC Miami) – 28-03-2015 by Mixing.Dj Livesets on Mixcloud

Starting his set with strong tech house beats, Marco Baily had the energy on a techno B-line for the majority of his set. It didn’t take long for the Belgian DJ to hit his stride laying down distant drones, heavy kicks, and the quintessential 909 rides that are one of the staple ingredients in big room techno. It wasn’t until the tail end of his set that he took things down into a deeper progressive realm, with hypnotizing pads and ethereal moments of dance floor bliss.

Apollonia

Apollonia @ Ultra Resistance Day 3, Bayfront Park – 29 March 2015 by Chemicalgroove on Mixcloud

While it may not be the terrace at DC-10, Apollonia seemed to be right at home on the stage at Ultra. Throughout their two hour performance every track seemed to fit perfectly and the flow and progression of sounds is why this Parisian trio is one of the best in the game. It’s only a matter of time before this set is littered with comments of ID? ID?! ID?! Not that we’re complaining…

Tini

TINI – Live @ Ultra Music Festival 2015 (Miami) – 28.03.2015 by Livesets. At on Mixcloud

From house to techno, Tini covers it all. Her technical skills are always on point, and that in conjunction with a killer track selection makes her one of the most fun DJ’s to groove to. This set from Ultra 2015 was no exception. There were moments of contemplative ambiance as well as moments of pure energy that would have even the techno purists jumping around.

Agoria

Agoria – Live @ Ultra Music Festival 2015 (Miami) – 28.03.2015 by Livesets. At on Mixcloud

Agoria was a standout set from Ultra 2015. Eloquently moving from heady Innervisions style techno to classic house music, Agoria certainly kept things interesting. At times it felt as if he was testing the waters of the Ultra crowd which may be the result of such a wide range of sounds, but even if that’s the case his set still was an excellent showcase of sounds for those in attendance.
