Beatport has added amapiano to its list of genres. The digital music retailer says the change is to help fans “discover the sound, translating into improved sales for artists and labels, and a better customer experience, as fans can find music that is truly representative of the amapiano culture.”
Until now, amapiano, a relatively new style of South African house and kwaito has been categorized under “Afro House,” “Deep House” and “Dance/Electro Pop.” Last year, Beatport also added a category for “Jackin’ House.” Check out Beatport’s new amapiano chart here, and how the genre is taking the world by storm.
