Awakenings is one of the world’s most revered techno brands, and it will arrive on the shores of New York for its first ever stand-alone American show happening on President’s Day weekend. 2015 saw Awakenings’ 15th inception in Amsterdam, and 2016 will see a continued expansion of the techno festival.
The Hammerstein Ballroom will showcase the vibes of Gashouder with a heavy-hitting phase 1 roster featuring Adam Beyer b2b Ida Engberg, Pan-Pot, Julia Govor b2b Kamran Sadeghi, and more to be announced for the techno soirée which will go until the sun rises. The show will be completely tailored to the venue as well as its audience. The 75 ft tall opera house floor is expected to host excellent acoustic design, especially with the fine tuning of the Drumcode crew.
The New York rendition of Awakenings is somewhat of an homage for its founder Rocco Veenboer, who traveled to America in 1991 to watch the Grateful Dead. Inspired by the set and production design of the shows, Rocco incorporated the delightfully psychedelic elements with the techno ambiance and sound, thus pushing Awakenings into the spotlight of success through the brand’s focus on both the music and the experience.
