Amsterdam Opens New Electronic Music Museum: Our House

Amsterdam is opening a new electronic music museum called Our House. It’s slated to open its doors on Friday, October 29. Billed as “the world’s first modern museum” dedicated to electronic music, Our House will span six exhibitions and 15 installations, including photo galleries, interactive vinyl players, documentaries, flyers, drum machines and a closing 4D audiovisual experience called “The Culture Ride.”

Artifacts have been contributed by the likes of The Frankie Knuckles Foundation among others. “Together with more than 150 international artists, promoters, creatives, producers, curators, operators and DJs, we have worked for the last two years on the realization of the collection,” says cofounder Jeroen Jansen. Located on Amstelstraat, Our House sits on the former site of iT, one of Amsterdam’s first house music clubs. Find out more about the museum here.

Explore and learn about the roots of house music and its’ full journey through the eyes of the creators: the DJ producers, the promoters, the creatives, and photographers. Narrated by renowned electronic artists including Kevin Saunderson, Carl Cox, and Charlotte de Witte, you’re sure to walk away with a deeper appreciation of the scene you are a part of.
