On Saturday November 29th Los Angeles will be welcoming the return of Minimal Effort for a one-day Halloween function that will begin in the depth of the afternoon and go until 2am.
The 10-hour party features some of the biggest names in dance music, including BBC Radio 1 extraordinaire Pete Tong, Tiga’s debut live show in LA, Suara big cat Coyu, Life & Death duo Thugfucker and producer and DJ Steve Bug among many others. The stellar lineup is just one of 5 key reasons why you shouldn’t miss Minimal Effort if you’re in the Los Angeles area this coming Halloween weekend, for which we are also giving away a pair of tickets!
The star-studded roster for this year’s Minimal Effort Halloween edition also features Marco Niemerski, artist name Tensnake. The German house tastemaker has been causing waves in the international underground dance music scene thanks to a flurry of strong EPs and singles, 2010’s In The House compilation, his 2015 debut studio album — Glow — and of course a long list of impressive remixes and reworks.
We recently had a chat with him to talk about his five current favorite tunes, tracks you might hear played at this year’s Minimal Effort: Halloween 2016!
I like vibey records. This is a very vibey record and I can play it in the beginning or towards the end of a set. I also like how the vocals are used in here.
Unfortunately I missed my gig at Smart Bar 2 weeks ago (looking at you United Airlines). I would have loved to play with Savile that night. This track has everything to make people bounce. Very nice peak time record.
I like the epic and trippy approach of this record, plus I am a sucker for vocoder pads. What’s not to like here?
“Red Eye” – Pop District
I love the UK warehouse vibe of this track. Really nice and old-school. I discovered this track through a Boiler Room set from Jen Ferrer who also dropped…
“Freundchen” – Tensnake
… this track in the same set. I love this record, because it is my latest release, I’d love to promote it and it comes with a nice video. Decent disco track too.
